DIY Paper Peonies

So I saw these INCREDIBLE paper flowers on Martha Stewart one day... and decided I would like to try some. Martha's version was a bit much for me on that day, so I found Tissue Paper Peony instructions through theknot.com. The directions were great, but I am a visual learner-- needed a few more photos to really GET it.

Materials: 7 sheets of tissue paper in the color you want your flowers, scissors, pencil, CD or other circle to trace, and some kind of floral wire (covered or uncovered).

If you can remember reading Sassy mag, you'll like Sadie.

Check it out. See my illustration for the...

Change is something we can't fight. As much as I struggle and resist, it always comes. I have to convince myself to change my ways of thinking, creatively, especially when creativity has run from me. Though I had a good year, the last few weeks of this year have been creatively dry [hence the fact that I haven't updated anything or even really made anything that wasn't a Christmas gift].

And since the New Year brings change...

So today was a great day-- my first craft show as a vendor. That, however, is Miss Mandy, a.k.a. Bones (check out her etsy shop in the upcoming days featuring her awesome skeletal paintings and old-fashioned shattered glass candy--the anise is so awesome) manning our joint table.

Basically, for my first show, the goal was to make back my entry fee, which I did. And then some. So that's cool.

Despite the snow and slush, lots of people came out and lined up to get the free goody bags! My purchases today:
